Saunders Custom Homes LLC got its start over a decade ago, the way a lot of good builders do — hands-on, learning from someone who'd already put in the years. I started out as a spec builder, working alongside another builder to learn the trade from the ground up. Those first few houses taught me more than I expected: how to manage a job right, how to avoid the mistakes that cost you later, and — maybe most importantly — that I didn't enjoy building cheap homes. I wanted to build something that would still be standing, and still be loved, decades from now.

That shift in mindset changed the direction of my business. About a year after I started, my own dad called and asked if I'd build the home he and my stepmom had designed. That was my first true custom home, and it set the bar for everything that followed. A couple of years later, an old coworker called with the same ask: would I build her house? Word of mouth started doing what advertising never could.

For years, spec building remained the core of my business, with custom homes built in alongside it. When the market shifted a couple of years ago, I adapted again — expanding into remodels and building rental properties for investors, while continuing to take on custom home projects for families who wanted something built right.

How I Work

Saunders Custom Homes is a one-man operation by design. I run every project personally and contract out the work to a crew of subcontractors I've built relationships with over many years — tradespeople I trust, who know how I expect a job to be run. That means every homeowner gets my direct attention from the first conversation to the final walkthrough, without the layers you'd find at a larger building company.
